Information For Prospective Applicants

We know this is a scary time for our immigrant communities, who are understandably concerned about sharing their citizenship or residency status. We ask for this information on our application to support our mission of prioritizing scholarships for immigrant and undocumented students. On our side, we want to reassure students that application materials are kept strictly confidential. Information shared on scholarship applications is reviewed by Foundation staff and the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee only and is never shared with any outside entities. Our community college partners have confirmed that the information and documentation collected for this scholarship are shared only with their review committees. Your safety, privacy, and educational opportunities are our top priorities. We encourage all eligible students to apply

Scholarship Philosophy

At the Peggy and Jack Baskin Foundation, we believe that education should be free, and everyone, regardless of their financial situation, should be able to attend university and pursue their academic goals without added stress or barriers. No one should have to tell their life story to a committee or compete for limited spots when seeking an education.

Unfortunately, this is not the reality, and scholarships are an important tool to access higher education. Therefore, with limited scholarship funding, applications help us assess the financial need and history of academic achievement for each student. We believe all of our applicants are accomplished in their own right and our goal is to support as many students as possible, especially those who might not have the opportunity to attend university otherwise.

Prospective Applicants

To be eligible for a scholarship from the Peggy and Jack Baskin Foundation, students must be enrolled for at least one full year at Cabrillo, Hartnell, or Monterey Peninsula College. Recipients must enroll as full-time students at a University of California campus and use all scholarship funds within two years of community college graduation.
